Ellie has been trying to have children of her own, and now in her late 30s, she is trying to come to terms with the possibility that the window of opportunity might have closed. This makes it especially difficult for her to defend Katie. This multi-narrative tale explores the intricacies of Amish life and what happens when it comes to clash with the modern-day legal system.
